Kelly/Strul Emerging Scholars Program board member and first-generation college student advocate Cecilia Peters was awarded the Alumni Talon Award during the annual Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Talon Leadership Awards Ceremony.

During the October 17 ceremony, Cecilia was recognized for her selfless commitment to the mentorship and guidance of students in the Kelly/Strul Emerging Scholars Program. Mentees, Valeria Tineo and Luz Brito were present at the ceremony to present Cecilia with the esteemed award.

“There is no one more deserving of this award than Cecilia,” said FAU President and KSESP co-founder John Kelly. “She selflessly and passionately invests in our students as a mentor for the Kelly/Strul students.”

Established in 1997, the Talon Leadership Awards ceremony is co-sponsored by the FAU Alumni Association and the FAU Student Government Homecoming Committee. It unites alumni, students, campus and community leaders in a celebration of leadership, support and service to the university. Congratulations Cecilia!
